These three variant of Althea Petal Velvet Powder was included in my welcome gift from Althea.kr. I was a bit skeptical at first since I thought I couldn't find the brand name. Little did I know that the big sign on the top of the box was ACTUALLY the brand itself and I found out later that Althea had launched their very own brand. It's like Sephora stores with their own makeup line.
The powder comes in a cute pinkish packaging in a round shape. It's actually quite tiny, that's why I also brought this whenever I'm out for traveling. It also come in a pink box with very cute details on each side. The inside of the jar looks like normal loose powder packaging, with holed plastic lid and white powder puff. The lid itself is made of flexible plastic that you can bend around. Each powder contains 3 grams.
What it claims:
- Covers up pores and reflects light for a velvety smooth finish
- Setting makeup perfectly without caking
- Contains 100% pure silica as oil absorbing properties as long lasting sebum control
Ingredients:
SILICA, MICA, VINYL DIMETHICONE/METHICONE SILSESQUIOXANE CROSSPOLYMER, DIMETHICONE/VINYL DIMETHICONE CROSSPOLYMER, METHICONE, HIBISCUS SYRIACUS SEED EXTRACT, HYDROGENATED LECITHIN, 1,2-HEXANEDIOL, GLYCERYL CAPRYLATE, MALTODEXTRIN, FRAGRANCE
The powder comes in three different shades to match most Asian skin tone: Warm Beige, Pink Lavender and Translucent. I'll explain to you about this later. Because first, I want to talk about the texture. As it claims, it is actually very smooth and velvety. The micro particle they claim make it feels like an HD powder while in fact it is not.
To use it, I simply use my own powder brush. I use a large powder brush for a lightweight finish or a denser face brush for a heavier result (like RT Expert Face Brush). I'm not a fan of the powder's very own puff since it's too small and kinda picks up the foundation I already put in advance.
So here's the pictures of me wearing these powder. On the top left picture, I managed to put on a large amount of moisturizer and dewy finish makeup base, and a small amount of Purbasari foundation and Maybelline concealer. I have dry skin and as you can see I put a lot products to make my face looking dewy and that was the best result I could get. Not very dewy, huh? So I'm not a big fan of face powder. I usually put a small amount to bake my under eye area.
The shade Warm Beige is absolutely too dark for me, the undertone was a bit yellow it makes me look orange. But maybe I'll use this to correct any grayish foundation that is too light for me. The shade Translucent is clearly has white shade since it brightens up my face quite heavily. But this can be balanced out once I use blush and contour. Lastly, Pink Lavender has pink undertone just like the name implies.
***
I use this (in the shade Translucent) several times on top of Missha Magic M Cushion for several days. I also set it with NYX Dewy Setting Spray. After 6-8 hours without touching up my makeup was still there without caking up. The sebum only appear in a small amount on my nose tip. But as I mentioned above that I have dry skin, the result can be different on oily skin.
My final verdict is that these products are worth to try. Although I'm not a fan of face powder, I still might need this for baking my under eye area or whenever I feel like looking matte in the near future.
Althea Petal Velvet Powder is only available in Althea.kr for IDR 60,000/each for about 3 grams of product. You can directly go this link for extra 20% discount (max IDR70,000) on your first purchase.
