Review: Clean & Clear Essentials Moisturizer

My skin type is normal-oily, but it can turn to greasy and acne prone if I don't use the right product. I stumble upon this in Giant Supermarket while doing my grocery shopping. I've been using this product for a month now. Let's see what I've gotta say about this.

The packaging is so tiny and practical but the content is generous (50 ml). The bottle is all about plastic with a dark purplish blue flip cap, a Clean & Clear signature color.

Can't see the image? Here's the ingredients list:
Water, Propylene Glycol, C12-15, Alkyl Benzonate, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Salicylic Acid, Stearic Acid, Propylene Glycol Isostearate, Cyclopentasilicocane, Glyceryl Stearate, Cyclohexasilicocane, PEG-100 Stearate, Dimethicone, Sodium Isostearoyl Lactylate, Carbomer, Acrylates/C10-3D, Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Hydroxide, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylsothiazolinone, Fragrance

Claims:
Nourishes skin whilst helping treat skin with acne. Leaving your skin feeling clean and beautifully clear.

I gotta say I'm not a very great fan of Clean & Clear products. I used to try their facial foam when I was a teenager, and it sucked the moisture even on my teen skin, leaving my face all flaking and stuff, but the word "OIL-FREE, WON'T CLOG PORES" distracted me. I have a thing with everything "oil-free".

There's also no other claims on the bottle other than the moisturizing effect and oil-free. So I guess this is a great one for those of you who need a moisturizer with no additional benefit such as SPF, anti-aging, whitening, lightening, etc.

The texture is a white thick cream that smells pretty nice, almost like a baby powder. I would squeeze a tiny amount of the cream, spread it on my palm, and massage it onto my whole face area until it absorbed. Once blended, it was absorbed well and the moisturizing effect does have a good impact on my skin. I used this for about 5 consecutive days in an AC-ed room and my skin didn't dry at all. Although after about three hours my nose started to look shinny again.

I don't know if I should love or hate this product. It really gives me the moisturizing effect and doesn't feel sticky at all, the lightweight feeling on my face, and stuff, but I don't think this is the right product for my skin because I got acnes by the second day I used this. At first I thought it was just some purging reactions or my hormonal effect (I was having my period), and continued until about two or three weeks, I forgot. But the acnes didn't seem to lessen, in fact, it got worse and worse everyday.

I think I should have trusted my instinct not to try out this brand on the first place. LOLs. I don't know if I should continue using this until it gets 'friendlier' with my skin or not, but I just don't wanna take the risk. Overall, this one is a big no no for me.

My take:
  • Oil free
  • Not sticky
  • Absorbed quickly
  • Nice smell
  • Where to get: everywhere around you
  • How much: About IDR 10K for 50 ml
