Review: Wet n Wild Megalast Liquid Catsuit (Oh My Dolly/928B)

I've told myself over and over again how fed up I am with the so-called liquid matte lipstick, but didn't know why I kept on buying them. During this matte lipstick trend, which haven't seemed to fade yet, Wet n Wild is one of drugstore brands I knew that haven't launch this kind of product until just recently, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

For me Wet n Wild is just okay--regarding their product quality--some are awesome but there are also the worst ones, so I didn't want to keep my hopes high the first time I purchased this Wet n Wild Megalast Liquid Catsuit.

This product comes in a transparent mini bulky tube with black cap. I can't really tell whether it's made of glass or plastic.

The thing I adore from its packaging is the applicator which doesn't look like a typical doe-foot shape. It's very fluffy and has a deeper arch which makes the application a lot easier and more controllable, especially for those who are fond of very crisp lips edges, like me. Its fluffiness holds a lot of product so I don't need to dip in more than twice to cover my whole lips.

The only shade I pick from this series is Oh My Dolly. I meant to pick a few shades but I already own piles of lipsticks already. There are several other shades launched range in safe colors only, like nudes, reds, pinks, and purples.

Oh My Dolly is just the perfect neon Barbie Pink which I don't recommend for the people with dark complexion. You can choose the shade Nice To Fuchsia for my recommendation. But the final decision will be up to you. Some also said that this color is dupe for Kat Von D Liquid Lipstick in Backstage Bambi.

This color is a bit streaky when first applied, I need a second layer to finally cover its streakiness. It dries very very fast, and set to full transfer proof matte. I use this all day without feeling any discomfortness at all, feels like wearing no lipstick. I use this lipstick to eat once and the center of my lips faded up a bit but didn't feel sticky nor clumpy, which makes the re-application so much easier. Please be aware that the formula for each shade is different from one another. But personally, despite its streakiness, I would totally recommend this product in this very shade.

This product cost originally USD 5 and sold in local Indonesian online stores for about IDR 50,000 to 60,000. (may varies).

Review: Wet N Wild Mega Last Lipstick (Just Peachy & In The Flesh)

Well, actually there are so many temptations coming from various lipstick products, from the cheapest to the most costly. But my choice seemed to be coming back to these babies. Reading many review on this planet, I found that their shades are great dupes for many high end lipsticks.

I have reviewed several colors back then, you can hit the word 'Wet N Wild' on the tag section at the right part of this page. So I won't talk much about their packaging whatsoever since I wrote it down on my previous posts.

The shades I bought were Just Peachy and In The Flesh.

These colors are similar to Lime Crime Babette (for Just Peachy) and Mac Twig (for In The Flesh).

When swatched on my lips, the shade seemed to be a lot lighter than the bullet. I don't understand the color change.

Just Peachy

This is a very pale peach (or pink?) that's so hard to pull off, it's too pale on me. Make me look sick. Maybe this color will suit people with extremely pale/fair skin with cool undertone and works best for dark smokey eyes look. The application is a bit streaky and the result on my lips are all patchy here and there. The solidity is even worse, it doesn't end up really opaque on me. My full lips look even fuller thanks to this color, and I don't mean it in a good way though. A total regret.

In The Flesh, taken indoor with medium lighting.

In The Flesh, taken indoor in extreme bright light.

In The Flesh is actually a dusty pinky brown color, a very wearable and safe color. This shade is a bit tricky to be photographed since it can look brown in a dark lighting, but turn to a little bit dusty pink in brighter lighting. The opacity is marvelous and the bullet glided smoothly on my lips. This is another treasure from Wet n Wild Mega Last Lipstick other than Bare It All, a total darling in my make up purse.

So far I have tried five shades from this Mega Last series. I used to have an excellent review over these products, but the more I tried the more I realized that not all of them have very opaque result. I'm talking about Just Peachy which is so chalky and streaky. But other than that, this lipstick is still my favorite, other than Revlon Super Lustruous series.

I would recommend a lip balm application first since these products have medium hydration effect. They're pretty long lasting but would faded a bit after meal. Both colors in this article stains my lips but not too much.

I really need to try other shades from this lipsticks, I don't know which one, but maybe I should buy them all to fulfill my curiousity? Should I? I have googled some reviews about Pink Suga, Stoplight Red, and Think Pink, but the more I searched, the more I confused.

For now, I won't leave you with my verdicts towards these lipsticks since I just found a good purchase for one product and a total let down for the other. I think you can summarize your own based on my reviews.

I was wearing In The Flesh.

Review: Wet n Wild Ultimate Brow Kit (Ash Brown/963)

Please don't mistake this product with eyeshadow pallet. I once did. Apparently this is one of many tools to define your eyebrows. I used to acknowledge eyebrow pencil as the only tool available to do so, but nowadays there are pomades, eyebrow gels, and this one: eyebrow kit. Orright, let's move on to the review then.

This kit comes in a silver plastic box with transparent cover. It's pretty thick.

My shade is Ash Brown (No. 963). I'm not quite sure how many shades available.

If you still can find this seal on your box, it means it's brand new.

This kit is very travel friendly with all the things you need in one whole package. What you'll find is:
  1. A tweezer. Meant to help you plucking your eyebrow. Although for me, this one's too small. I prefer my old tweezer.
  2. An angled brush. Although the handle is too short, but the square shape is a plus point to avoid slippery hand. And the brush is stiff. I prefer this stiff kind of brush to draw my eyebrows. But if you don't, you know what's next, find your own favorite brush.
  3. A white wax. To make your eyebrow hair stay in place. But for me personally, this wax thing is a bit absurd since I don't find it useful at all.
  4. Two shades of brown. The main point of this product.

Close up view of the pans. I used to think that the long square there is the mirror. And I thought, how small.

Turns out it was equipped with a quite large mirror, and the width is as wide as the packaging itself. You just need to slide a small opening on the side of the packaging. That explains why the box is quite thick. Talk about hidden mirror, this reminds me of the old packaging of Revlon Colorstay blusher.

I assume these two brown shades are suitable for any kind of skin tone. You can use either one of them or mix them both. But when I swatched to my wrist the color was kinda fade out and powdery. But when I use the brush and apply it to my eyebrow, I was a bit surprised to see how pigmented they are.

***

An eyebrow kit review is not complete without a tutorial of how I use this. But I must tell you that you might find this a bit different from what written on the product directory. I don't use the wax because for me it's not very useful, and applying it at the last step would only make everything I set fade out.

  1. To make my eyebrows hair stay in place, I sprayed a small amount of hairspray onto a spoolie or an eyebrow brush, and brush my eyebrow with that.
  2. Draw a lower outline with the dark brown shade.
  3. Do the same thing to draw the upper outline.
  4. Fill the empty space with a lighter brown.
  5. Using whatever that's left on the brush, smudge your inner corner of the eyebrows to create a gradient effect. Or you can use eyeshadow brush, or even your pinky tip.
  6. And you are done. And please ignore my half finished eyeliner on the photos above.
You don't have to use all the colors in there. This is just one of many ways to define your eyebrows using this kit.

An example on one of my EOTDs.

I used to think that filling your eyebrows with powder is the same with using eyeshadow, but no. Because if I use eyeshadow, sometimes there will be some powders fall on my eyelids. But it didn't happen when I used this. Those colors are very pigmented and will not fall off.

Compared to my NYX Eyebrow Gel, this is seriously more practical and easier to use. But the staying power is less than NYX. I wore this in an outdoor activity for a douple of hours and took a nap afterwards, and by the end of the day, some color on the outter part of my eyebrows faded out a little bit. But, if I must compare this again with my Viva or Silky Girl eyebrow pencil, this one stays much longer.

My thought:
  • Pigmented colors
  • Medium staying power
  • Not very useful wax
  • And even a useless tweezer
  • But I love the stiff brush
  • Equipped with a quite big mirror
  • Where to buy: Online stores, Carrefour, Watsons, Metro, Sogo, Guardian.
  • How much: IDR 109K (USD 10) on its official counters, but the price may vary if you purchase this  via online. I bought this for IDR 70K from NYX Olshop in Facebook. A little note when purchasing this online, please make sure the price is not more than IDR 110K, or else it means you have been ripped off by the seller. LOLs.
  • You also can buy this online from their official Indonesian web store.

Thank you for reading!

Review: Wet n Wild Mega Last Lipstick (Mauve Outta Here & Bare It All)

Frist of all, I would like to appologize for giving you a review about poducts which aren't look photogenic anymore. I bought these Wet n Wild lipsticks many many weeks ago but always forget to write about this. I'd like to say that I do like these products sooo much.

I actually reviewed about lipstick from this series some time ago. Check it out here. You'll find a much tidier version of these since it was still brand new. I'm not gonna talk too much about the packaging since I already wrote it on the link above, so feel free to hit that mouse button to find out more about the packaging.

The shades I'll talk about are Mauve Outta Here and Bare It All

The bullet color retracted to the max. Since the first time buying these, the rounded tip always bug me since it's quite tricky to draw a price line on your lips.

Swatches on my hand in both lighting.

BARE IT ALL

This is, maybe, what you call, a nude brown shade with a hint of white. On the bullet I thought the color would turn pale, but when I wear it, apparently it was a pretty kind of pale. This one suits my skin tone well, and can brighten up my face even if it's pale. A very safe colo for any occassion.

MAUVE OUTTA HERE

Honestly, I have a love-hate-love-hate relationship with this. The texture and finishing is great but I'm not very fond of the shade. Mauve has always been my favorite lipstick shade, but on me, this one changed into a light pinkish purple. My mistake when searching swatches of this color was opening beauty blogs by western bloggers, you know how different their skin tone and bare lips color than mine. But, I couldn't find local beauty bloggers who have reviewed this item. And moreover, this one stains your lips, a lot.

***

Ombre lips I created a few days ago. Products I used:

Revlon Colorstay Lipliner in Nude
Wet n Wild Mega Last Lipstick in Bare It All
NYX JEP in Milk

***

In short, Mega Last Lipstick is a good product for me. Smooth glide, pigmented color, and they even able to cover the darkness around your lips area since the texture is very opaque. Once you apply it, it leaves a satin finishing on your lips, not very dry looking like matte lipstick, but not to buttery like most creamy lipsticks. There are 26 color variants, if I'm not mistaken, and the variety is great, but only in safe colors. Please don't think about green lipstick. :D The Mauve is the only thing I regret. I think I'll hunt for the shade Pinkerbell. I heard it's a dupe of Lime Crime Geradium. *Wink!*

***

Verdicts:
  • Opaque color
  • Doesn't dry my lips
  • A little goes a long the way
  • Mauve Outta Here stains your lips once you wipe it
  • Long lasting the whole day but with taking a meal they faded just a bit
  • Satin finishing
  • Can cover your lips darkness
  • How much: IDR 79K on their official counters, but available on many online shops with much cheaper price. I bought these not more than IDR 50K.
  • Available in: many drugstores or supermarkets, or even online shops.

Happy hunting!

Review: Wet n Wild Mega Last Lip Color (Vamp It Up/919B)

Bold--especially vampy--lip color is not me, I must say. But sometimes I just want to get out of my comfort zone, wearing something daring once in a while. So I guess one dark purple lipstick won't hurt my purse. My choice this time is Wet n Wild Mega Last Lip Color simply because its wide range of color choices and a good bargain price.

There are 26 color variants in this Mega Last series. Mine is 919B or Vamp It Up. The packaging is nothing special. Black tube with transparent cap which make it easier to see through the color without opening it or looking at the bottom. The tube itself is a bit bulky than a regular lipstick.

The whole bullet glided, taken with flash and without flash.

What I hate is the bullet doesn't retract all the way into the tube and it will leave ugly stain on the clear cap if you don't careful enough. The rounded bullet is also a letdown since I can't color my cupid's bow precisely. I think I prefer the classic pointy bullet.

The swatch on my wrists, again taken with flash and natural lighting.

And here are the examples on my lips. Sorry I keep on bugging you with the flash and no flash pictures. It's because they look a bit different on those lighting.

The color when you swipe it is very opaque. I think this shade is perfect for those who are still scared to wear black, right? It's pretty bold but at the same time, pretty as well. At least for me. LOL.

I haven't tried other shades from this series, but this one stain your lips very very badly, as if you have a natural red lips after wiping it down. The formula is semi-matte and kinda dry your lips, so moisturizing your lips before applying it is recommended.

Conclusions:
  • Semi-matte formula
  • Opaque color and pigmented
  • Medium staying power
  • Stain your lips after you wipe it
  • Dry my lips
  • No weird smell
  • Where I bought it: NYX Olshop
  • How much: IDR 49K (I forgot the exact price). But it'll cost you around IDR 89K in their official counters. I heard the price in USA itself is no more than USD 3, if I'm not mistaken.
  • Where you can find this in Indonesia: Carrefour, drugstores, counters.

A tutorial by me using this shade. Check it out here.

Have you tried any other color from this series, or do you have other vampy purple lip color? Please tell! By the way, I think Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick has a similar shade with this one (Va Va Violet) but I hardly find it. Just to let you know. Until then!
