Review: Sleek Matte Me in Petal

sleek-matte-me-petal-review-esybabsy

I got this Sleek Matte Me like from winning Dine/Aisah giveaway, and it was almost a year ago. Not that I forgot about this cute prize, I was just simply waiting for the right moment to unwrap it.

When first launched, this product was originally named Sleek Ultra Smooth Lip Cream with a different kind of font. The one being reviewed here is their latest version. In case you're wondering.

The shade I own is Petal (435). And as stated on the bottle, this product can last up to 3 years upon first openning (36 months). Compared to LA Splash (only 3 months) or Lime Crime (12 months), Sleek Matte Me is more economical in terms of its life span.

The applicator is what I love. Instead of a classic doe-foot shape, it is extra long and pointy, making it easier to draw a precise line. Unfortunately it feels so hard. I wish they have made it a little bit softer and more bouncy.

The texture is quite runny, not creamy. It also dries quickly.

Petal is a pale muted pink. It tends to washes me off unless if I put on a foundation or BB cream. My skin is NC25, and I don't think this would suit any darker complexion.

As you can see from the picture of my lips above, the texture of Petal shade is very streaky. I put on several layer and still couldn't get the smooth result.

For those of you who have darker lips on the edges, I would suggest to put on some lip primer first, or a thin layer of foundation. And like many other pink lipstick on me (pale or bright) this one will also oxidize after several hours and turn into a darker color.

I have tried this product in the shade Birthday Suit, which is so much better in terms of the texture, finishing, etc. Petal kinda seems dries out and tends to clump at my inner lips, especially after eating. So the reapplication is a bit challenging.

Lip preparation is highly recommended before applying this product. Moisturize your lips properly or scrub them in advance. I would avoid wearing this when I suffer from chapped lips.

In Indonesia, this product would cost for about IDR 120K in many online stores, they are not available off line, though.

Repurchase? Err... nope I think. I love the color but I just can't stand its texture.

Review: Sleek Make Up iDivine Sunset Palette

sleek-makeup-idivine-sunset-palette-review-esybabsy

This is the second eye shadow palette I own from Sleek Make Up. I bought their Acid Palette and I like it a lot because most of the colors are crazily pigmented. This Sunset Palette is more suitable to be worn during summer. Tapi di Bekasi selalu musim panas kan. Heheheh...

This palette comes in a black box and black palette with a huge mirror inside, also a dual ended sponge applicator which is actually pretty awesome but I don't use it quite often. Sunset Palette, just like the name itself, is packed with hues of sunset colors. Although I'm not pretty sure about the blue. Which part of blue represent a sunset? The sea color?

There are two versions in Sleek palettes regarding their pans: the one with waffle pattern, and the other is like the one I have. Some have the color description, and others don't. I have no idea how this could happen. I don't think mine's fake anyway since I bought this from a reputable online stores.

All of the colors are equally pigmented and buttery. The last three colors may not seem so much due to my skin tone, but applied on darker skins, they'll look fantastic. They might be great colors for highlighter or base.

Let me try to explain the color one by one:
  1. It is a lightly shimmery black. Well, I don't call this a shimmery since the effect is so light, but it's not matte either. Applied on my eye lid, and I almost can't see the shinny effect.
  2. Red with orange undertone with shimmery finish. Excellent pigmentation.
  3. I don;t know what to call this color. Copper maybe?  It has shimmery finish and great pigmentation.
  4. Bright orange with good pigmentation and shimmery finish.
  5. Gold. It has metallic finish and super shinny. One of the best gold shade I've ever found.
  6. Turquoise blue with shimmery finish. The pigmentation is not as good as other colors in the palette. But still it has a good color pay-off.
  7. Dark brown, almost looks like dark copper. Shimmery finish, good pigmentation, and smooth textured.
  8. Somewhere between and red and brown. This color reminds me of Viva eyebrow pencil color in brown.
  9. Lighter version of the color No. 8. Good pigmentation, soft, and buttery.
  10. My skin tone color but with shimmery finish. Great color as base.
  11. Darker version of color No. 10. A bit of a rose gold.
  12. Light pink with metallic finish and great pigmentation.

None of the colors are matte, they're all either shimmery of metallic. Even the black has a soft shimmery effect. Some colors like the color No. 1 and 6 is a bit powdery. I usually use eye shadow base to lessen this powdery problem. Other than that they're all smooth, buttery, richly pigmented, and blend beautifully.

I bought this in my local online store for about IDR 150K to 170K (I forgot as usual). I think this palette is great for you who are bored with so many neutral color palettes, but doesn't want to go overboard with bright colors.

Review: Sleek Matte Me (Birthday Suit/436)

Sleek Matte Me was originally launched about 2 years ago, if I'm not mistaken, but this became a hit just recently.

The packaging itself is quite simple. Clear class bottle and a matte black cap, and with a big Matte Me sign on the bottle. I bought this online. When I first got this, I slightly doubted the product authenticity because the font design was a bit different from what I saw on their official web and on some beauty blogs from around the world. But I got this from a reputable online store, so I would assume this one is authentic with its latest packging design.

Color system from left to right:

Rioja Red
Birthday Suit
Brink Pink
Fandango Purple
Party Pink
Petal

The shade I own is Birthday Suit (436). And as stated on the bottle, this product can last up to 3 years upon first openning (36 months). Compared to LA Splash (only 3 months) or Lime Crime (12 months), Sleek Matte Me is more economical in terms of its life span.

The applicator is what I love. Instead of a classic doe-foot shape, it is extra long and pointy, and making the application a lot easier.

Typical matte lip cream: wet when freshly applied and turned to a dead matte result in 5 minutes.

Sooo Birthday Suit is a classic nude with pinkish/brownish tone. I think this suit all skin color. It's nude but not muted/pale. The type of color that will never go wrong.

The product dries quickly. While waiting to dry, DO NOT ever pout your lips together, or else it'll end up miserable. While waiting for it to dry, I actually felt that tacky and uncomfortable feeling on my lips, but once they all set, they won't budge. And although it feels dry, but sooo comfortable and doesn't dry my lips.

And unlike most matte lip cream I tried, the inner part of your lips won't clump even after you eat or drink. So reapplying never been sooo easy. I have no idea how this is happens. Is it because the formula, or is because the color pigment? Just FYI, I have two Lime Crime products in the shade Pink Velvet (a hot pink) which is soo much more drying than the shade Cashmere (a nude tone).

Of all the matte lip cream products, I think this one that gives me more comfort, compared to other brands. I bought this in @makeuptoolshop in their Instagram account for about IDR 120K. But the prices may vary in several online stores. And, please do not look for this brand offline, they're not available in Indonesia. Not yet.
