The name of this cosmetic line reminds me of a mental illness, if you know what I mean, and it was a bit unflattering for me when I first notice it while browsing through Sephora website. But when I saw their color range, I knew right away that this line was worth put in my wish list.
For those who wonder what a lip tar is, basically it's a liquid listick.
The package came with a clear vinyl pouch contains the lip tar, a #010 precission lip brush, and a brief manual kit of its direction of use.
The liquid was infused in a smooth matte tube with a tiny plastic cap.
My shade is Memento. I should have bought a more unique color, but this is the only one available at the time in an online shop I usually purchased, and I was too lazy to pre-order it. So.... well, this safe color was my only choice. The content is 33 fl oz or 10 ml.
What it claims:
Contains Organic Hemp Oil & Soy-Derived Vitamin E, for a finish that feels as good as it looks. Paraben-Free courtesy of refreshing Peppermint Oil.
The pointy tip making sure you don't spill the product easily. Altough the cap is a bit unpractical. It would be a diaster if someday I accidently dropped and lost it under my bed. It's so.... eeneie meenie tiny... And the consistency is pretty runny, so don't squeeze too hard or you'll end up wasting the product.
Unlike most useless built-in applicators, this one is pretty useful to apply the product on precise lines. It has a rounded tip and white holder with the word Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Cosmetics on it.

Direction of use:
- Prime lips with lip tar primer and allow to absorb. prevent feathering by lining lips with anti-feathered cosmetic colour pencil.
- Dab a bead of lip tar onto the tip of the included lip brush.
- Apply lip tar to the center of the lips and blend outward to the lip line. Define and refine lips with desired cosmetic coloured pencil.
Just like what it said on the manual kit, I put a very small amount of the product onto the tip of the applicator like this, enough amount to cover my whole lips, unless if you have extra wide lips. I used to put a small dot on the back of my hands and dab my applicator on it, but it turned pretty messy and such a product waste.
I just dab the product with included brush starting from the inner lips and blend outward to the lip line. I don't feel the need to apply extra lip liner since the product doesn't feather or bleed at all, at least on me.
One important info: it has a mint aroma, if I'm not mistaken.

SWATCHES
What color is this? Their official web define this as a midtone pink/plum, but for me it was more like pink or light mauve with a hint of yellow. Btw, do you know I only need a small dot to draw swatches like I did in the picture?
My bare lips color. Pale light brown and very dry. Turned red only after I ate spicy food, hehehe.
Taken indoor with camera flash.
Taken outdoor in day light.

MY TAKE
OCC Memento Lip Tar/Matte is a pretty color and super pigmented, a very little dot goes along the way. I feel like 10 ml content is just too much until the product reach its expiry date. The formula is very smooth and blend easily on mylips, although I feel the stickiness. And the content of peppermint oil will give you that minty sensation when first applied, but will fade gradually.
When freshly applied, it'll look glossy but will turn into a... creamy finish. Some said it will look like a satin finish, but no. I have several lip products with satin finishing, and this one is much far from that one, let alone matte. It's just too glossy and too creamy to be called satin or matte. Alert: probably wrong use of the product name?
Unfortunately this lip tar dries my lips, mines get dry easily. And once it dries, it will leave ugly clumps on the inner part of my lips. Especially after drinking/eating. It's just not enough to simply retouch it. I feel like I have to wipe them entirely and start reapplying all over again.
The longevity is just average. It only need about 2 hours until it faded away, and since it's creamy, it gets on my teeth pretty easily. And once you eat, it will BAM! Gone... with the food. LOLs. Well, maybe I was just too sloppy, but believe me, there are many products will stay better on my lips even with my careless eating habit.
There are three types of lip tar, the matte (with 39 insane shades), mettalic (comes in 13 shades), and stained gloss (has 15 shades), and a clear gloss product. Very wide and crazy range of colors, and each of them has its own unique name that will make you imagine things, from a serial killer victim (black dahlia), a homosexual Japanese manga genre (Yaoi), to a Greek myth (Narcissus). Reading their sick senile lunatic perverted names was enough to make my day. LOLs. Lip Tars also meant to be mixed together, if you have more than one.
Verdicts:
- Memento is a mid tone pink with yellow undertone (on me).
- Very pigmented.
- A little goes a long the way.
- Opaque color.
- Blended easily.
- Comes with a usefull brush applicator.
- Vegan cosmetic.
- Mint sensation and aroma when freshly applied.
- Average lasting power.
- Dries my lips, and clumps.
- How much: USD 18 on its official web. But I bought this for IDR 300K something, in paulineboutique.com, depends on the seller's price.
- Not available in Indonesia.
Have you ever own an OCC Lip Tar in other shades? Or considering of purchasing one? I would like to know your opinion as well since I'm thinking of getting bolder ones, like Anita or Black Dahlia. Urgh, my bank account!
