Review: Etude Color Lips-Fit Lock 'N 'Summer #OR203 Live Fit Orange

This is one of the newest of several new items that was launched by Etude House. Confused with my statement? Well, don't be. Because EH continuously launches new product like in every second before I can grab their latest one yet. Able to make me poor.

The product I'm gonna be reviewing now is from their Lock 'n Summer collection, Color Lips Fit. This is the continuation of their previous Color Lips Fit launched several months ago. I've reviewed it already, you can check it out here.

Compared to their ancestors Color Lips-Fit which looked pretty and sweet, this Lock 'N Summer series has slightly different box and bottle design. More lively and fresh, although I don't capture the 'summer' look on its design. More like a Union Jack, isn't it?

The color system.
Somehow, not all colors are suitable for summer, don't you think? It should have come in a more playful system. But that's ok, they're gorgeous anyway.

My shade is OR203 or Live Fit Orange. Of all three shades of oranges, this is the brightest one.

Directions of use:
  1. Shake well before use.
  2. Apply smoothly with tip. Lightly dab onto center of lips for gradation. Delicately apply for full cover.
  3. Apply a layer of Color Lips Fit WH901* after color for moist gloss.

*WH901 is a clear Color Lips-Fit range.

The applicator is a bit round, bended, and pointy. It is also bendable if you push it. I use the tip to draw the outter lips to create a neat and precise result.

***

SWATCHES

The swatches when feshly applied, still look glossy and wet.

After a minute or so, it will turn to matte. When I say matte, it is very matte. It sinks into your skin just like that.

Btw, what is the best word for describing this shade? Well, if you see the bottle you might first mistake it to red or coral red, but once you swatch the consistency, you know they aren't. This shade is what I would call a true daring orange.

Bare lips.

And...

The swatches on my lips:

I apply this using gradient style and full lips. For gradient style I just dab a very very tiny amount on the inner lips (which make me ticklish!) and spread it with my finger onto the whole lips.

***

Btw, lately I just remembered that we can apply this as blusher as well. I should have told you on my previous post about it but I forgot.

To apply as blusher, I just need a very small amount like this.

Then... Blend it with your hand, like this. I took this picture under indoor lighting with camera flash.

And, this is how it'll look like under natural lighting.

Although the color looks pretty on my lips, I would rather not use this as blusher because it look weird on me, LOLs. Orange cheeks? Oh, c'mon! But, IDK, maybe I'm not used to this color on my cheeks just yet. Instead, I would rather use no blusher at all.

***

Once the liquid sunk into your lips and met its final matte result, you will fill the light powdery sensation on your lips, which is for me is not very disturbing. Unlike my previous Color Lips Fit shade which look too bright and COMICAL on me (a.k.a. weird), this shade just compliments my whole appearance.

Lately I also learn that any Color Lips Fit series will only dry your lips if yours are in bad condition. I use this alone without lip balm application in advance and my lips end up just fine although it's very matte. So, take care of your lips ya. Don't blame the product if you get chapped lips. LOLs.

This one also stain my lips and doens't easily transfer unless you kiss someone or something deliberately. But sadly I gotta say that the staying power is not very good. I used to eat while wearing this and the whole color just dissappeared except for the outter one, made me look as if I was wearing an orange lip liner. Totally ugly, LOLs. But reapplying it wouldn't be a problem since this one doesn't clump.

Judgement:
  • Unusually pretty bright orange
  • Matte and powdery result
  • Doesn't clump
  • Not drying
  • Not easily transfer
  • Lip stainning afterwards
  • Medium staying power, but easily dissappeared if I use this to eat
  • How much: Ranging from IDR 100K to 120K.

Last word?
Totally adore this!

Review: NYX Eyebrow Gel (Brunette/EBG 03) with Mashami Shouko Brush #307

When I first knew that my favorite line, NYX, launched their very first eyebrow gel, I just couldn't wait to get my hands on this.

The product was infused in a tiny transparent vynil tube, comes with a box as well.

There are five shades available: Blonde, Chocolate, Brunette, Espresso, and Black. The shade I chose was Brunette

Actually I was a bit confused to choose between Chocolate or Brunette. The seller suggested Chocolate for a more suitable shade for Indonesian skin tone. But after googling some beauty blogs and Youtube channels, turned out that Chocolate has a more reddish brown, almost the same with my Silky Girl Eyebrow Pencil, while Brunette is more greyish undertoned. So why should I bother purchasing the shade I already have?

I also aim for the Blonde one, but haven't dared to purchased it yet.

This product is actually very tiny, only 10ml. It has a small pointy hole and a tiny black cap, which is a bit unpractical. Just like my OCC Lip Tar that has a very mini cap, I fear that I might lost the cap. Sheesh... Btw, I must warn you, that the consistency is runny, so don't squeeze too hard ya, or you'll waste some.

***

SWATCHES

So here are the swatches on my hand.

  1. The very first strokes I squeezed freshly from the tube. It looked brown with grey undertone.
  2. This is the last strokes I made from the remaining gel on my finger. Somehow the shade turned to a reddish brown, similar to the Chocolate shade.

I only need a very small dot to draw those two lines, a very little goes a long, long way. It will be ages before it run out completely. And judging from these swatches, the color also buildable, depends on how thick the strokes you draw.

From the reviews I found on the internet, all of them would suggest applying ths with an angled brush. Unfortunately, I don't even have a good one because the tip is not pointy enough (fyi, kuas angle-ku abal2 heheh). So this is the only brush in my purse that matches this eyebrow gel. It is flat instead of angled, but has very pointy and a bit hard tip for a more precise line. This brush also good for smudging the gel on the inner eyebrows.

I used to regret buying this brush since I just didn't what to do with it, now I feel lucky having it.

***

I actually have several ways to draw my eyebrow, but using this eyebrow gel, I use the common method.

Frist of all, I would gently squeeze a small amount of the product onto the back of my hand like the picture above. You only need that small amount to draw both of your eyebrows. For me sometimes, I need even lesser amount.

  1. Brush your eyebrows with a clean eyebrow brush. Some would prefer using brow wax or clear mascara for a more trimmed look, but I don't do that. (Blogger yang ngasal. Hahaha).
  2. With your favorite brush, draw the lower part of your eyebrows.
  3. Do the same thing with your upper eyebrow.
  4. Fill in the blank area.
  5. Using the leftover product, smudge it to make a gradient effect on the inner part of your eyebrow. You also can do this using the back of your brush.

One of my FOTD using this product on the eyebrows. I do love the shade and the result. Although it's darker than my Silky Girl Eyebrow Pencil, but still look wearable for daily use. At least my eyebrows aren't looked too red nor too dark.

***

This is the very first product ever in my entire life that fulfill its promise to be a waterproof and smudgeproof one. I wear it in a hot and humid climate in outdoor activity (Bekasi, bo...), used to take a nap with this, and still no discernible fading.

Due to that, the gel also dried very fast once you squeeze it out of the tube. So, one tip when drawing your eyebrows with this, is just do it fast. Don't think too much! That's why some people prefer not to squeeze the product onto the back of their hands since it'll be anightmare to clean up. But, I just can't find a more hygienic way other than that. I mean, I always wash my hands in advance.

And just like I said before, a little dot goes a very long way. So be gentle with your brush or you'll end up overdoing it.

Last word, this product is ridiculously awesome, I like it! However, I must say that you might not like this if you are still a beginner on drawing your eyebrows. Well, I'm not saying that I am a pro already, totally not, but applying this product is waaay more tricky than using a regular eyebrow pencil, although the final result you get is to die for.

Verdicts:
  • A little goes a long the way
  • Waterproof and smudgeproof
  • Brunette is a brown with grey undertone
  • Buildable result
  • The gel quickly dry
  • How much: USD 6.99 on their official website. But available in online store for about IDR 100-120K, depends on the seller. However, I am not sure whether these also available in  Indoneian official counters just yet.

Tanks for reading. I hope this review is resourceful!

Sponsored Review: D'eyeko False Eyelashes

Hai temaaaan!

Tiap kemasannya udah termasuk lem bulu mata berwarna putih.

Jujur, sampai sekarang aku masih kesulitan memakai bulu mata palsu.

***

Foto keseluruhan wajah menggunakan bulu mata ini. Masih ngomongin tentang 'sensual' perhatikanlah foto mukaku waktu pake seri Asmara, berasa seksi sendiri, ngedipnya juga beda. XD

Liat deh, hanya dengan bulu mata palsu mampu membuat tampilan mata jauh lebih heboh walaupun eyeshadow-nya minimalis. That's the power of falsies.

Udah ah, jangan banyak-banyak selfie-nya, ntar disangka narsis lagi heheheh.

***

Thanks for reading!

Haul of August 2014

Welcome September!

At the very month end I usually make a summary of my haul for the whole month. It's kinda sad story for my bank account, though. I feel like I keep on spending money too much on makeup. When will I ever grow up? I used to wish to never grow up, and now I wish I could grow up...

***

Here they are, my newest members of my beauty drawer since August:

***

Etude House Lovely Cookie Blusher in Raspberry Tarte #3
NYX JEP in Electric Blue
And... What is that? Eye stickers? All I know is that you stick them on your eyelids

Aren't they looking lovely together? Awww... I adopted them from their previous owner, Ellen Tan.

Etude House Color Lips-Fit Lock 'N Summer in OR203
Lip and cheek coloring in one bottle. I just found out lately that this can be used as a blusher as well.

Tammia stippling brush and Tammia angled brush
I used to look down on this Korean brand, turned out they ain't that bad afterall.

NYX Retractable Eyeliners in blue, pink, gold, and green

NYX Eyebrow Gel in Brunnette
The newest member of NYX.

Duo Eyelash Adhesive in White
If I'm not mistaken, I've seen Maya Mia using this on one of her video, so I assume this is a good one, with a pretty badass price as well. I got this in Matahari Dept. Store for about IDR 120K. Much more pricey than my last Koji eyelash glue.

OCC Lip Tar in Memento
I have reviewed this, actually. Check it out here.

Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream in Natural Beige
Check out the review here.

Pond's Flawless White Bb+ in Light
I have run out omy daily BB cream, which is Pond's Age Miracle BB+. This was reviewed here.

Evian Brumisateur Facial Spray
A bit pricey but compared to similar products from other brands, this is pretty cheap actually. I to moisten my face and to control my sebum. A very good product. Do you think I should review this?

***

Well, that is all. I hope for the next month I won't be needing to post so many stuff as my monthly haul. I hope... LOLs!

See you and be good.

Makeup Collaboration: Beauty And The Beast

Hai teman!

Aku kolaborasi makeup lagi kali ini. Hihihihi. Well, gadget kan juga punya perasaan...

Beauty and the Beast

Preeet... Jadi kalo rada berantakan, ya maap aja deh yak.

Sementara untuk wajah si 'beauty' aku pake ide simpel aja yaitu nyoba ala-ala pin-up girl gitu lah dengan bibir merah dobleh-nya. Sayangnya untuk bagian mata, aku ngerasa eyeliner-nya agak ketebelan, malah jadinya kayak ala arabian eyes gitu. Jadi makin gak jelas aja konsepnya.

Baik, cukup curcolnya, mari kita lihat seperti apa muka mbakyu Raine Judese Tenan ini yaaa.

***

The tools I abused to make this Raine Judese Tenan face:
  • Etude House Cotton Fit BB Cream (Natural Beige)
  • Maybelline Clear Smooth Face Powder (Light)
  • NYX Eyebrow Gel (Brunette)
  • Oriflame Eyeliner Stylo (Black) as upper eyeliner
  • NYX Single Eyeshadow (Black) as eyeshadow and lower eyeliner
  • NYX Single Eyeshadow (Dark Brown) as face contouring
  • Viva Body Paint (Red) as lipstick
  • Baby Color Candy Rainbow (Grey)
  • Unbranded falsies I found randomly

This skeleton guy turned out has a more simple makeup ingredient:
  • Etude House Cotton Fit BB Cream (Natural Beige)
  • Kryolan TV Paint Stick (White)
  • Marcks' Powder (White)
  • Viva Body Paint (Black)
  • NYX Single Eyeshadow (Black)
  • Artistry Automatic Eyeliner (Black)

How to draw a skeleton:

Be good!

Review: Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream SPF42 PA+++ (Natural Beige/23)

To buy or not to buy this, has been a confusing question for several months, but finally I got my hands on this what-so-called the best oil control BB cream ever.

Well, let's see.

***

The product I bought was its 20 ml which was travel size. Also available in 50 ml size. I know it's a bit cheaper to buy its full size, but I already got several base makeup products in my drawer so I gotta be wiser spending my bank account. Please note: I only WANT this, instead of NEEDING it. If only they have a 5ml travel size (not share-in-jar), I would have purchased it.

Some of you would notice that its 50 ml tube size was a bit deflated as if the product has been used several times (although it wasn't true), but it didn't look like that with this 20 ml tube size.

What it claims:
MISSHA M Perfect Cover BB Cream offers a novel skincare concept with BB cream which lightens skin tone by healing visible wrinkles and blemishes with excellent skin-cover ability, and prevents skin aging thorugh effective whitening and anti-wrinkle properties.

Here are the shades of Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream, just for your reference:
  1. Milk Beige (No. 13)
  2. Light Beige (No. 21)
  3. Natural Beige (No. 23)
  4. Honey Beige (No. 27)
  5. Golden Beige (No. 31)

The shade I chose was No. 23 or Natural Beige. Actually I was a bit confused to choose between Natural Beige or Light Beige because after googling some review, I noticed their Natural Beige tone is a bit darker than any other BB cream shades with similar names. But I finally chose this one.

How to use:
Apply the desired amount on face using hands or a make makeup sponge.

Ingredients:
Water(Aqua), Cyclomethicone, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Zinc Oxide, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Mineral Oil, Phenyl Trimethicone, Talc, Arbutin, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Dimethicone, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Squalane, Adenosine, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, PEG-10 Dimethicone, Polyethylene, Beeswax(Cera Alba), Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Caviar Extract, Algae Extract, Rosa Canina Fruit Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Fagus Sylvatica Bud Extract, Ceramide 3, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium Chloride, Fragrance(Parfum), Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Disodium EDTA, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Benzyl Salicylate, Hydroxycitronellal, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Hexyl Cinnamal, Linalool, Citronellol

MAY CONTAIN
[+/-; Titanium Dioxide(CI 77891), Iron Oxides(CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499)]

The travel size has its unpractical cap, unlike its full size which is equppied with a pump.

***

Compared to some other BB creams I have, the shade is a bit more greyish. The consistency is not too thick nor too runny, and can be blended easily. I can smell a fresh and enjoyable scent, hard to explain it, but it sure is a unique and nice one.

Buat perbandingan warnanya, Natural Beige versi Missha ini lebih gelap dari Natural Beige punya Etude House Cotton Fit BB Cream.

Although the price is a bit expensive, I still don't expect the coverage will be as perfect as a foundation is. Turned out my expectation was pretty much true. I have some acne scars and sun damages, spider veins, etc on my face and they are nicely covered but still visible. But once I set it with a face powder, then BAM! I look flawless right away and my skin tone looks fairer. Unfortunately, the dark circles have to be covered twice or three times before I achieve its most flawless result.

***

As I said before, the cream itself is a bit more grey than any other BB creams I've tried, so this suits best with a fair complexion with pink undertone. On me, it looked greyish and pale but once I set it with face powder, it neutralized the tone in an instant. So unlike some other BB creams that can be wore alone without a face powder, I can't do the same thing with this one. Maybe I have to mix it with darker foundation or so, but I haven't got the formula just yet.

Talking about its good oil control and my normal-oily skin type, it doesn't work that way on me. I wore this alone with a face powder, for outdoor occassion, and in 3 hours my face look more greasy than usual. Even my Pond's Flawless White BB+ has better oil control than this (with cheaper price). I think this kind of reaction is reasonable considering its high consistency of SPF and PA. The higher the SPF and PA, the more oily it become.

For extra oil control, I hate using blotting papers, instead, I spritz a small amount of Evian face spray after applying face powder and that works pretty well. I once tried to apply Revlon Photoready Perfecting Primer beneath it, yes it gave a good oil control but also made my face look like a dead person, soooo white and pale.

Considering its mineral oil (and parabens) consistency, those who have prones to those might find some issues towards this product, but fortunately my skin have no negative reaction whatsoever.

Summary:
  • Moisturizes
  • Glowing/dewy finishing
  • Low oil control (Yes, low! On me!)
  • The tone is more grey than most bb creams I found
  • SPF42 PA+++
  • Medium coverage
  • Medium longevity
  • How much: IDR 120K (USD 10) for 20 ml, and IDR 210K (USD 19) for 50 ml. But it really depends on the sellers. I purchased this from mylovelysister.com.

Score:
2.89 out of 5
