Review: Koji Dolly Wink Liquid Eyeliner (Black)

My eyes are small, that's why I love to accentuate them with eye makeup products. One of them is eyeliners. No day ever I would go out without scratching some fine lines above my eyes. And although I own several eyeliners in my drawer already, I always able to find a great excuse to buy new ones. Especially if it's Dolly Wink. Yeth, I've been eyeing this pen ever since I first saw it in Zalora, although I finally bought this when I stop by at Kay Collection.

 

Btw, if you live in Indonesia and a makeup accessories lover, you should definitely stop by at Kay Collection counters, you'll find tons of Koji products and some other amazing stuff.

 

 

The packaging itself is quite eye catching, with Tsubasa Matsukawa picture as the founder of Dolly Wink.

 

 

 

 

There are two shades available which are black and brown. What I purchased was seemed like a new packaging version. The old one has a bow picture on the plastic, as you can see on the photo above.

 

 

 

When you see the back of the packaging, all you'll see is Japanese. Kinda weird, since usually all imported stuff in Indonesia had the English/Indonesian translation in a sticker. But I found a picture with English description somewhere on the internet (I forgot where, though), and type this letter by letter. LOL.

 

Description

"Koji Dolly Wink Liquid Eyeliner has a ultra fine yet flexible point tip, which allow greater precision with a easy to handle eyelining experience. The deep dazzling black can accentuate the glamorous eyes of yours, giving you a more defined look. This eyeliner is waterproof, sweat proof and with the quick dry formula, the eyeliner can stay on for hours without a smudge. Your look will be long wearing and gorgeous even without touch-up."

 

How to use it

Use the pencil to fill the spaces between your eyelashes and draw a smooth line just above your lashes.

  

 

The plastic seal is very thick and it's impossible to be opened without breaking some edges. So it's kinda brand new guaranteed for me, because sometimes I do not trust the shop keeper. If you know what I mean.

 

 

 

The pen itself is more like a regular plastic pen I'd use in school. Since the one I got is in Black shade, it's strawberry milk pink, with violet flowers printing, and a black cap. If you go for a brown one, you'll find all turqoise and stuff on the pen.

I've never seen a pen liner tip as pointy as this one, but it doesn't feel like it stabs. Overtime, the tip will get feathery a bit. For me, this kind a super thin applicator would be useful for coloring tiny places such as tear duct or a very sharp cat wink. But for a thicker lines, I would prefer using a gel liner.

 

 

The result is a bit glossy, although not as shinny as my Maybelline Hyper Glossy Liquid Liner. The blackness it produces is a bit dissapointing, though. It's more like a super dark grey than a jet black. 

 

I try to apply this on my eyes just to test its sting effect and luckily there were none.

 

 

The very pointy tip is very helpful for making thin lines and reach the most impossible spots a pencil liner cannot reach, but you'll need several layers to achieve a solid black result like the pictures above. And the glossy finishing is not very flattering for me who loves to practice my eye makeups and take close up pictures of my eyes.

After about 10 hours usage I found the waterproof effect is as good as it claimed although it faded a bit, and I also saw a bit of smudging under my eyes. Please note that I have very oily lids. But the smudging can be easily tricked with an eye primer application in advance. So, that's how important an eye primer is.

 

Some liquid eyeliners will leave you with a clogging sensation, like wearing a scotch tape on your eyes, but this product feels very comfortable on my eyelids. I don't feel any clogging or sting sensation, which is a huge benefit since I'm softlens user.

 

Overall, I would say this pricey eyeliner (my most one) is a pretty good one for daily use. Very easy application, not very intense color, and the longevity is amazing. Yes, the price really pays-off.

Review: Handmade Liquid Soaps by Moporie

Still connected to the previous Beauty Blogger Meet Up I attended a few weeks ago, now I'd like to unbox two of several items gifted by Moporie, their liquid soaps: Castile Liquid Soap and Head To Toe Best Friend Soap.

CASTILE LIQUID SOAP

 

 

Packed in a tiny plastic bottle, this liquid soap claims to suitable for all skin type. Like the rest of Moporie products, this one is also free from SLS and Parabens. This unscented liquid soap contains olive oil and all its goodness for our skin.

 

Ingredient:

75%-100% olive oil

 

This product is sealed tighly in a thick plastic, with a flip style cap. Very practical. Especially when your hands get all soapy and it's too slippery to grab the bottle. But if you think the flip cap is a bother, you can always twist it open and pour a larger amount of the soap.

 

 

The consistency is not runny nor thick. Since this claimed to be unscented, you won't get any fancy smell coming out of it. Just the natural aroma of some natural oil. When you see it in the bottle, the liquid looks yellowish, but when you pour it on your hand, it's almost transparent.

 

 

I didn't know why my hand got all bubbly in this picture, but believe me, when I try this for bathing, there was not much bubbles produced.

HEAD TO TOE BEST FRIEND SOAP

With a same looking box with Castile Liquid Soap, this tea-colored soap will be friendly not only to your body, but your hair as well. Claimed to be SLS, Paranbes, and Silicone free, this soap was enriched with pro vitamin B5, vitamin E, olive oil, avocado oil, shea butter, and some other luxury oil.

 

 

The mouth of this bottle is the same as Castile Liquid Soap with a flip cap style.

 

The concistency is a but more runny and the liquid color is dark yellow/brown. Just like a tea.

 

 

 

No fancy fragrance you can smell from this soap. The only aroma coming is the smell of natural oil from what this soap was made of. Not much bubble you can get when using this. No matter how much the product you pour.

Overall, as claimed to be all natural ingredient soap, these product will be suitable for any skin type. Free from parabens, SLS, and silicone. I don't feel worry at all bathing my toddler with these soaps although they also produce special items for babies and kids.

 

Although the ones I review in this post are all unscented, you can always request your own custumized fragrance and benefit. But don't expect too much since their products has very light fragrance that can only last for an hour after usage. For liquid soap, you also can order your very own special cap style, whether is flip caps like I own, or pump style.

In short, Moporie soaps is the right product for those who look for the benefit of a soap to your skin, but definitely a big no no for you who look for fancy fragrance in a soap.

Review: SilkyGirl Double Intense Gel Eyeliner (Pure Black/01) + Tips on How To Lengthen Your Gel Liner Life Span

Aku udah lama pengen beli gel liner ini, katanya kan legendaris, banyak di review sama beauty blogger. Cuma ya mungkin karena otak yang rada-rada impulsive, tiap kali mampir ke konter SilkyGirl pasti kepincut ama konter merk lain. Ujung-ujungnya malah beli yang ga direncanain, dengan harga yg beberapa kali lipat lebih mahal. Preeettt... Jadi pas aku dapet kesempatan dapet barang ini secara gratis, I was like having a dream come true.

Yuk ah, langsung aja.

Kemasannya sih standar banget ya. Biasanya gel liner emang dikemas dalam bentuk pot kaca seperti ini, plus tutup yang bisa dialihfungsikan menjadi kuas beserta gagangnya. Btw, menurutku design kotaknya itu... Nggak banget. Bagusnya dibiarin aja item polos, pasti lebih keliatan 'sleek'. Belom lagi design font-nya. Jadoel. Hehehe. Bawel ah.

Warna yang aku dapet adalah Pure Black (No. 01). Setahu aku dia ada shade coklatnya. Tapi mencarinya itu kok susaaah banget ya.

Kuasnya pipih dan ujungnya runcing. Tapi somehow, kalo aku pake lama kelamaan berubah bentuk jadi angled brush. Dan seperti yang aku bilang tadi, kuasnya ini nempel ama pot-nya. Aku lebih suka kuas model gini. Praktis. Daripada yang terpisah kayak gel liner Maybelline atau Etude House.

Entah gambar di atas itu penting apa nggak, karena pastinya banyak di antara kamu yang udah tau mekanisme kemasan ini. Tapi yaaaa, gapapa lah. Namanya juga review produk. Tujuannya kan untuk memberi informasi sejelas dan sejujur mungkin. Cieee guee...

1. Buka tutup pot dengan cara diputar.
2. Patahkan bagian tengah dari tutup untuk menemukan kuas yang tersembunyi.
3. Balik tangkai kuas dan masukkan ujung kuas ke dalam patahan tutupnya. Kamu bisa juga pakai tangkai kuas langsung tanpa disambung kalau lebih suka aplikator yang lebih pendek.

Kalo aku yang matanya rada burem (hehehe) lebih suka pakai aplikator pendek. Maklum, jarak kaca sama muka itu harus dekeet banget biar keliatan.

Kalo ngomongin soal warna, asli jet black abisss. Super duper intense. Jadi dalam hal kehitaman, asli ini produk juara deh. Teksturnya juga creamy and soft banget. Btw, dia tidak berglitter ya, hasilnya pun matte. Tidak ada bau-bau aneh juga yang sempat tercium. Namanya juga eyeliner. Masak iya wangi? Pas aku aplikasikan ke mata juga nggak terasa perih di aku.

Tapi kalo ngomongin daya tahan... Hmmm, aku sih ragu. Soalnya pas aku swatch ke tangan dan menunggu sampe beberapa menit kok dia gak kering-kering ya. Dan aku cuma gosok sedikit aja udah mbleber gitu.

Eyeliner ini sih emang terbukti waterproof, tapi kaga smudgeproof. Aku pake buat acara outdoor selama dua jam sih masih oke. Begitu udah lebih dari dua jam, langsung ada bayangan hitam di kantong mata, pertanda kalo ada tinta eyeliner-nya yang ngerembes turun. Oh, dengan catatan, aku tidak menggunakan eye primer ya. Sekedar menguji daya tahan produknya aja.

Lain halnya waktu aku pake Revlon Photoready Face Primer dan ditumpuk lagi pake Etude House Proof 10 Eye Primer di mata atas dan bawah, eyeliner ini sukses tidak bergerak sedikitpun. Iya, aku pake face primer dulu sebelom eye primer. Karena buatku kalo make eye primer doang kayaknya eyeshadow tetap retak/creasing.

HOW TO LENGTHEN YOUR GEL LINER LIFE SPAN

Ya, aku punya tips buat kamu yang sering ngerasa punya gel liner tapi kok cepet banget keringnya. Tips ini aku dapet dari acara Beauty Blogger Meet Up kemarin. Gak ada salahnya kan aku share di sini?

Gel eyeliner itu musuhnya udara. Jadi selagi kamu pake, jangan malas untuk membalik pot-nya ke arah bawah untuk mengurangi frekuensi gel-nya bergesekan dengan udara bebas.

Put your gel liner pot in upside down position whenever you're using it. This is to reduce the chance your gel touched by air.

Jangan malas membersihkan kuasnya setiap kali habis menggunakannya. Kalo aku sih usap aja pake tisu sampe bersih, baru langsung aku tutup. Jangan sampe ada sisa gel menetap di kuasnya karena begitu gel-nya mengeras, tekstur kuasnya jadi keras dan nggak enak banget pas dipake ulang. Oh ya, aku sih nggak menyarankan dibersihkan pake eye makeup remover karena ada kadar minyaknya. Nanti pas mau dipake lagi, kuasnya jadi agak-agak berminyak, dan akan mengurangi daya tahan produknya di matamu.

Clean your brush after each application with a dry tissue/napkin. I don't recommend using eye makeup remover since it contains some oil that may reduce the staying power of your gel liner on your eyes.

Gambar yang kanan adalah Gel Liner Etude House-ku yang lama. Saran aja, kalo kamu mengoleskan kuas untuk mengambil produknya, jangan ditekan, tapi ambil aja dengan gerakan ringan. Jangan sampe membuat lubang seperti kawah ditengah pot-nya karena gel liner akan lebih cepat kering.

This picture shows a comparison with my old Etude House Drawing Show Gel Liner. As you can see that I already made a gigantic hole on the gel surface, making the product dry easily. I would recommend you make a light stroke on its surface evenly. Don't make a hole since this will make the product dry easily.

Aku pake eyeliner ini di atas dan bawah mata dengan pengaplikasian bertumpuk. Hasilnya jadi super tebel dan agak lebay ya. Heheheh. Oh ya, khusus untuk tear duct, aku menggunakan kuas eyeliner.

Di sini mungkin ga terlalu keliatan karena ketutup sama bulu mata palsunya. Tapi kamu bisa lihat di garis mata bawah.

Yang ini aku pake tipis-tipis aja, ternyata bisa juga jadi eye makeup buat sehari-hari meski pake eyeliner hitam di atas dan bawah mata. Aku mengaplikasikannya dengan gerakan ringan dan terputus-putus.

Review: SilkyGirl Natural Brow Pencil (Dark Brown/02)

Review kali ini masih seputar goodie bag yang aku dapet dari acara BB Meet Up kemarin, mudah-mudahan kamu gak bosen ya. Yup, pensil alis ini adalah salah satu dari 3 item yang aku dapet dari Silky Girl.

Isinya berupa gel liner, pensil alis, dan lipstiknya Silky Girl. Penjelasan dan review produk akan dijabarkan satu-satu di tiap post ya.

Kalo boleh jujur sih yang aku review sekarang adalah pensil alis Silky Girl punyaku sendiri, karena kebetulan aku juga udah lama pake pensil alis ini. Yaaa kan daripada buka yang baru, mending dimanfaatin dulu apa yang masih ada, daripada mubazir. Ceritanya waktu itu aku beli gara-gara bosen sama pensil alisnya Viva, dan aku juga ngerasa Viva itu warnanya terlalu merah.

Nothing too fancy about the look of this pencil. Pensilnya dari kayu dan ada tutup dari plastik warna bening. Kalo masih baru dia di-seal dengan plastik. Model pensilnya ini diraut ya, bukan diputer. Kalo ngomongin pensil raut, aku kok lebih seneng pensil kayu seperti ini daripada yang dari plastik. Kayaknya kalo ngeraut pensil plastik, lebih banyak aja produk yang terbuang.

Pas aku tanya warna coklatnya ada berapa, mbak-mbak kasir di apotik Watsons sih bilang dia cuma ada hitam dan coklat (Soft Black dan Dark Brown). Jadi aku beli yang coklat aja, karena pensil alis hitam cuma aku pake buat eksperimen makeup. Hihihi...

Warnanya itu coklat dengan undertone kemerahan, tapi nggak semerah Viva. Menurutku sih pas ya buat yang pengen warna pensil alis yang rada gelap tapi gak keliatan terlalu galak. Kalo boleh lagi nih aku bandingin dengan NYX Eyebrow Gel, warnanya sekilas mirip dengan shade Chocolate.

Aku kurang tahu tekstur asli dari pensil ini terlalu keras atau nggak. Yang jelas aku menyimpannya dalam ruangan ber-AC, jadi di aku teksturnya lumayan keras. Selama ini sih aku mengakalinya dengan memegang ujung pensilnya dengan jari selama beberapa detik biar lebih lunak, atau aku coret-coret sedikit di punggung tangan.

Di foto ini aku gosok sekali aja udah kehapus. Memang gak ada klaim waterproof sih dari Silky Girl. Tapi aku yang udah lama make pensil ini, menurutku daya tahannya lumayan kok. Asal dalam batas pemakaian yang wajar ya, maksudnya nggak dipake berenang, dipake bobo, atau diusek-usek pas kebetulan alis kamu gatel, menurutku sih dia akan bertahan dan alis gak akan buntung seharian. Aku pake wudhu beberapa kali juga masih oke kok meski agak pudar sedikit.

So, overall, untuk sebuah pensil alis yang gak terlalu mahal, produk ini oke banget lah. Mungkin kamu lagi bosen sama pensil alis lokal, pengen yang buatan luar tapi nggak terlalu mahal, bisa lah jadi pilihan kamu. Buat kamu-kamu yang udah expert dandannya, mungkin udah punya beberapa eyebrow drawer di rumah ya. Entah itu berupa pomade, gel, atau eyebrow kit, tapi percayalah, tidak ada yang bisa menandingi kekuatan sebuah pensil alis dari segi kepraktisannya. Terutama buat kamu yang alisnya buntung, pengen gambar alis, tapi sayang make Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade kamu cuma buat manggil tukang ojek ke depan kompleks. Misalnya.... Heheheh...

• Warnanya coklat kemerahan, tapi lebih gelap dari Viva.
• Daya tahan medium.
• Tidak waterproof atau smudgeproof.
• Tidak gampang patah.
• Teksturnya agak keras (menurut aku).
• Murah meriah. Harganya sekitar IDR 20K.
• Beli di konter resmi, apotik, atau toko kosmetik.

Karena aku udah agak lama makenya, jadi stok EOTD dengan pensil alis ini lumayan banyak. Selamat menikmati dan meresapi. XD

Di gambar ini warnanya agak kemerahan ya karena efek cahaya, aslinya sih ga semerah ini.

Warnanya agak mendekati aslinya pada gambar-gambar berikut ini. Gak terlalu merah atau gelap kan?

Paling suka pake pensil alis kalo pensilnya mulai agak tumpul karena menurutku hasilnya jadi lebih alami. Btw, maap ye pose-nya rada alay.
